THE VILLAGE

Kameron Locke continued with his personal mission to promote diversity and inclusion in the music industry and classical arts education. Locke, recognizing the lack of representation of LGBTQ+, non-binary, and gender-nonconforming people of color as music producers, created "The Village" at Goldsmiths College, University of London. This initiative aimed to address the absence of diverse voices in the industry by offering an accessible curriculum specifically designed for beginners. Through a series of workshops led by Locke and Tomáš Kaspar, Goldsmiths Music Studio staff, students were introduced to at-home recording techniques, allowing them to experiment, produce, and express their unique voices. The Village workshops successfully created an inclusive and equitable space for historically excluded individuals and communities, providing them with the tools and confidence to explore their musical creativity.
